From the Principal

The last few weeks of Term 4 are always a highlight, given the many opportunities to hear from our talented musicians as they perform their final recitals. Whenever available over the past few weeks, I have joined audience members of parents and fellow student musicians to hear from our courageous performers. One of the privileges of being the Principal of our College is being able to witness the significant growth and development of our students over time, with music nights providing the perfect opportunity to celebrate this growth.
Equally impressive is the way our audiences respond so generously to our performers. Students sit close together to provide each performer with their collective encouragement and support; parents ensuring they remain in the audience until the very last performance, no matter when their child performs. As an audience member you can feel the collective encouragement during the performance of each piece which then translates into meaningful, appreciative applause.
At the time of writing, final preparations are being made for our annual Christmas Concert due to take place in the Library Courtyard from 5pm tonight. As Keats wrote in his poem Ode to a Grecian Urn, ‘heard melodies are sweet but those unheard are sweeter’ and there is no doubt that we have heard many sweet melodies over the last few weeks, and many have been witness to enchanting unheard melodies too.
