From the Year 3 Classroom

2026 CAMP

Grade 4 camp 2026 will be here before we know it! It is a very exciting, two- night camp and the first of many in your child’s schooling. As it is happening early Term 1, the summer holidays are a perfect opportunity to practise sleepovers, and we encourage families to practise an overnight stay to ensure your child is comfortable being away from home/parents. Keep an eye out for correspondence with details including dietaries etc.

K.K

Students received their Kris Kringle details on Monday for our end-of-year celebrations. Each student has a letter explaining who they are buying for and the spending limit for the gift. We will exchange gifts on Tuesday, 16th December (the last day of school). Thank you for your support!

End of Year Celebration

Just a remind to sign the forms on PAM regarding our end of year celebration to Wangaratta Cinema Centre and Supa Bowl. Please contact the office or us if you are having trouble login into PAM.

Spelling Bee

Our termly Spelling Bee will be held on Wednesday, 3rd December. Students have received a hard copy of the words they’ve focused on this term to take home and practise during the week.

Reading

Students are about to finish reading our final class novel for the year, Mr Stink by David Walliams. Throughout the story, they’ve laughed along and explored the important theme of not judging people by their appearance. To wrap up, students will complete some fun, creative activities related to the book and then watch the short film adaptation to compare it with the novel. This will give them a chance to discuss similarities and differences.

Writing

Over the past few weeks, students have been researching a country neighboring Australia. They are now publishing their nonfiction writing using Microsoft PowerPoint and will present their work to a small group of peers in the coming weeks.

MATHS

We conclude out last couple of weeks of mathematics with measurement topic – Mass and Capacity.

We have been estimating, weighing and comparing weights, using metric units of grams and kilograms.

Take advantage of cooking or shopping opportunities to show how we use measurement in everyday life applications.

Congratulations to our Multiplication Masters Liliana Pye, Nate Martin, Elise Wilson, Mack Hargrave, Hudson Ratcliffe and Lucy Farr.
