From the Year 2 Classroom

Dear Parents,
It’s been a busy and exciting two weeks in our classroom! Here’s a snapshot of what we’ve been working on:
Literacy
Our students have been crafting their own fractured fairytales based on Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The creativity has been amazing—there are some very interesting twists and turns in their stories! We are finishing off the publishing with their very own illustrations.
Spelling
We’ve continued revising our tricky words and have been putting our skills to the test with some fun spelling bees. Hopefully, your child has been practicing at home too—thank you for supporting them!
Mathematics
In Maths, we’ve worked on Additive patterns and are now exploring mapping and directions. Using grid paper, students have been learning to plot routes and follow instructions, and they’re becoming experts at knowing their lefts and rights!
Religion
Our focus has been on Advent. We’ve started our Advent calendars, and each day we’re completing acts of kindness—both at school and at home. So, expect lots of helpful hands around the house over the next two weeks! Thanks to everyone who attended the Christmas Concert last Friday. The students had been practising so hard. It was great to see their faces light up when they spotted their families in the crowd.
Swimming
We’re hopeful that swimming will go ahead this week as the weather warms up. Please make sure all items in your child’s swim bag are clearly labelled to avoid any mix-ups.
KK
We have our KK exchanged planned for Friday week (12th Dec). If your child could bring in their KK present by next Wednesday, that would be great.
Splash Park
Our splash park end of year activity is fast approaching. Next Monday (8th December) we are off to the park for some fun and a hot chip lunch. As we will be at the splash park for lunch, we ask for no lunch orders that day.
Thanks,
Year 2 team
