Swimming
This week students in Prep - 2 have begun their Water Familiarisation program. Unfortunately, the weather has not been very kind to us to begin the week. However, students have still able to do some Water Safety sessions in the Mercy Centre. Here they spoke about being safe at home, in the river and in the lake. Students spoke about potential dangers in these waterways and how they can keep themselves and each other safe.
Later this week when the weather improves, we look forward getting into the pool and having some fun!
Year 6 Water Safety Certificate:
On Thursday our Year 6 students will travel to the Yarrawonga Pool to complete their Water Safety Certificate.
This certificate is designed to prepare students from any secondary school swimming activities.
Swimming 2026:
Students in Year 3 - 6 will begin their Swimming Program on Monday 2nd February and will run through for two weeks until Friday 13th February. This will lead into the Sacred Heart Swimming Carnival on Thursday 19th February.
We will have a lot of other exciting news and events happening in the Sport and PE space in 2026 so stay tuned and keep an eye on the newsletter for future dates.
Congratulations to all our students on their efforts throughout 2025 whether it was representing Sacred Heart at the various sporting events or just their participation and effort during school PE lessons.
We have an amazing array of sporting talents within our school community and can't wait to celebrate these further in 2026.
Finally, a big thank you to Mr Jensen Hargreaves for his amazing year at Sacred Heart. Jensen joined us as a Sports trainee and will be heading off to Canberra next year to study secondary teaching. Jensen has built a strong rapport with all our students and staff. He has been an amazing asset to our staff group. He has conducted swimming lessons, coached various sporting teams, assisted on camps, helped at many carnivals and assisted with hundreds of PE lessons.
We thank Mr Hargreaves for the year, and we wish him all the best in the future and hope to see him back at Sacred Heart one day soon.
Thanks
Mr O'Dwyer.
