From the Year 6 Classroom

What a busy few weeks it has been for our Yr 6 cohort, as they near the end of their Primary school journey.

In Literacy, we have finished our final novel study for the year Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend. The students thoroughly enjoyed the text, it prompted some rich discussions and wonderings as to what would happen to Morrigan and how her life would play out.

In Numeracy, we have started our new unit, ‘Fractions, Decimals and Percentages’, where students are learning that fractions, decimals and percentages can be used to represent parts of whole numbers and that they can be converted between notations to facilitate efficient calculations and be applied to problem solving.

In other news, the Yr 6 students who are attending SHC in 2026 have been taking part in Transition afternoons, where they have taken part in PE, Cooking and Woodwork lessons.

The Yr 6 students thoroughly enjoyed their final Christmas Concert last Friday. It was so great to see the leaders of our school so enthusiastic and energetic and bringing the Christmas cheer.
