From the Year 5 Classroom

Leadership Speeches and 2026 Prep Buddy Transitions
Recently, the students completed ‘Leadership Speeches’ in front of their peers, teachers, Mr Mullavey, Mrs Bridgeman and Mrs McInness. The students were amazing with their preparations during the literacy blocks and all presented really well. They should all be proud of their efforts. The teachers and some members of leadership will look at the candidates and make decisions in the coming weeks. Student leadership positions will be announced in early 2026. The 2026 Prep Buddy transitions have also been tremendously successful, and we thank our Yr 5 students for making their kinder/Prep buddy feel welcomed at Sacred Heart.
Christmas Traditions & Readers Theatre
The students this week have been learning about ‘Christmas Traditions from around the World’ including the ‘Yule Cat in Iceland’, a Christmas Cat that eats people and Caga Tio-Spain, the Log that Poops Presents!
The students have also been performing Readers Theatre in small groups. The readers theatre has a Christmas theme. The three Christmas scripts the students are reading are ‘The Gingerbread Dude’, ‘Santapunzel’ and ‘Snow White & the 6 ½ Reindeer. The students will present and perform these on Friday morning.
