Blue Class Newsletter 💙

WEEK 8, TERM 4 NEWSLETTER REPORT

The past two weeks in Blue Class have been full of wonderful learning and end-of-year excitement! In English, students have been working through exploring daily whole-story comprehensions, grammar mini-lessons, creative tasks, and a spelling focus on -ful and -less. They have also been practising their independent reading skills, writing short responses, and using research tasks to build curiosity and vocabulary.

In Mathematics, we have revised key Stage 3 number skills, including place value, rounding, number patterns, and basic operations. Students have also completed mixed-revision problem-solving tasks and independent paced activities that allow them to consolidate their understanding as we approach the end of the year.

In Science, we have continued learning about energy, exploring how it moves, how we use it, and how different forces work in our everyday environment. Students especially enjoyed hands-on demonstrations and discussions about energy in movement, sound, and light.

In PDHPE, we’ve been focusing on teamwork, cooperative games, and reflecting on personal strengths and goals. Students have demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and have taken pride in supporting one another during fitness activities and group work.

In Creative Arts, the choir has been a major highlight, with the whole class practising enthusiastically for Light Up Leeton. Their confidence, musicality, and teamwork have grown each week, and they are sounding absolutely beautiful. We are all so proud of their commitment and excitement for the performance.

3 Simple, Enjoyable Homework Activities for Families

  1. Family Reading Night: Choose a short story, picture book, or chapter together and take turns reading aloud. Share favourite characters or moments.
  2. Gratitude Walk: Take a 10–15 minute walk together and each family member names three things they are grateful for. Great for wellbeing and connection.
  3. Board Game Maths: Play a board or card game (Uno, Yahtzee, Monopoly Deal, or Connect Four). These all strengthen strategy, counting, and communication, without feeling like homework!
