Assistant Principal's Report
By Anat Garzberg-Grant
Dear families,
I trust this communication finds you and the members of your families well. As previously communicated in our level newsletters, this term our school is trailing a new approach to Home Learning.
What is the change?
Home Learning has shifted to a project-based approach which incorporates multiple curriculum areas, allowing for transfer and consolidation of learning and providing time for students to approach their tasks deeply and allowing flexibility for the busyness of daily life.
Why have we made this change?
As a school that’s always on the relentless pursuit of excellence, we often review our curriculum offerings to ensure they are engaging, meeting the needs of the students across the school and are rigorous, providing adequate challenge. As part of the review process, our Assistant Teaching and Learning Leaders collected data across our school community. They surveyed the students, some parents in the school yard and teachers, and asked how they felt about our (previous) Home Learning, and if there was any way we could improve the approach, and the result is a more purposeful approach for your child.
What does this change mean for your family?
If you have any further questions or require clarification about our new approach to Home Learning, please don’t hesitate to email Anat Garzberg Grant (Assistant Principal, Curriculum) at anat.garzberg@education.vic.gov.au, Frank Catalano (Principal) at frank.catalano@education.vic.gov.au, or alternatively you are welcome to speak with your child’s classroom teacher. You can also phone the school on (03) 9802 9938.
