Principal's Report
Dear Families,
Over the past few months, our community and the world have seen a number of tragic events. These events are shared through social media, the news, the newspaper and conversations that are happening around our children between adults. I would like to take this time to share with our school community ways in which we can protect our children from such traumatic information.
Our children are sponges and they hear and see everything. To act in a protective way, we need to always be aware if our children are present when we are watching or speaking about these tragic events. If it is necessary to talk about these events with our children, we need to ensure we are giving age-appropriate details and linking them to further support if required. We at BNPS are always here to support our students and families, so please reach out if your child needs help. As adults we too can feel the impact of these tragic events. If you find yourself struggling, please consider the many avenues of support available, including Lifeline and Beyond Blue.
We continue to have many incursions, excursions and events throughout this half of the term. Please ensure you are returning all permission notes on time so that teachers can book buses and venues are able to cater for the number of students in attendance.
This week, we held interviews for the various Student leadership positions in 2024. We had many applicants. Each student had to write an application letter and then sit an interview where they were asked questions about their leadership skills, how they will demonstrate our school values and what being a leader means to them. Successful students will be announced at next week’s assembly.
For all students that bring a mobile phone to school, please remember that your phone is to be turned off and handed to the office as soon as you arrive. It is the Department of Education’s policy that no phones are to be kept with students in the classroom. All phones are to be collected when leaving.
I remind all families that Monday 20th November it is a student free day. This day is used for our teachers to analyse data to write your students reports for the end of the year.
Have a great weekend!
