Year 9 School for Student Leadership opportunity – Term 4 2024

Today our School for Student Leadership alumni talked to the 2024 Year 9 cohort about the School for Student Leadership Program (SSLP). The SSLP offers an incredible opportunity for Year 9 students to get out of the school system for a term and experience a different way of living. Next year EMC has been selected to send 5 students to the Gnurad-Gundidj Student Leadership School (Glennorminston) for Term 4.

The selected students will live, eat, and work with other students during the term. Throughout the term, they develop increased independence, build relationships and expand their leadership abilities in a positive environment. The camp offers many opportunities for students to be in an outdoor environment to challenge their abilities in many ways. The 5 students also create a community led project (CLP) that can be whatever they would like, to positively influence the school in whichever way they think is best. For example this years’ alumni are organising a Langwarrin Community Market Day for 2024.

If your child is interested to apply for this program, please email wendy.coombes@education.vic.gov.au or ciro.ferra@education.vic.gov.au
