Stage 3

A message from Stage 3

English

'Engaging and thought-provoking' - that is how Stage 3 students are describing their deep dive into the Australian Classic, Storm Boy by Colin Thiele, this term. Critical to learning in English, is the opportunity for students to not just write, spell and read but to be given the chance to think and make meaning of the texts they consume. Through scaffolded thinking processes, students are making deep connections with the values and altering perspectives that occur from human to human. They have also created some very engaging and thought-provoking texts of their own.

Far Out - Big bangs, brains and buckets of fun!

30 BVPS students were given the opportunity to attend the University of New England's Far Out Science Day earlier in Term 4 and it turns out they have what it takes to be rocket scientists. Students were able to attend and participate in a variety of workshops that provided them with first-hand scientific skills. Academics guided our students through a range of experiences which included neuroscience, engineering, zoology and one EXPLOSIVE chemistry demonstration.
