Principal's Message

We are now well and truly into the last term of the year. Check-in assessments are largely completed, with only a small number of students participating in catch-up sessions this week. Transition days for our 2024 Kindergarten students have begun, ES1 and S2 are participating in excursions to Thalgarrah and some of our S3 students participated in Far Out Science workshops today. Keep an eye out for information and photos relating to these activities and more in our stage newsletter articles over the coming weeks.

NAIDOC Week

It was wonderful to welcome parents and families at our opening and closing ceremonies as part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations last week. We began our week with a smoking ceremony performed by Mr Shuaib Rhodes-Swain and a 'For our Elders' morning tea. Thank you to the family members who joined us for the event. It was a wonderful opportunity to have a yarn over a cuppa and connect with students, teachers and families.

Through the week, students participated in a tools and weapons information session, Indigenous games activities, x-ray art lessons and listened to Dreaming stories.

The week culminated in a closing ceremony on Friday where we heard from a special guest speaker, Mr Bruce Denison. Students performed a song from the Torres Strait Islands called Sesere Eeye and tried Johnny Cakes at lunchtime, during a special NAIDOC Week Dance Party.

Thank you to our NAIDOC Week committee for organising a fantastic week of activities and to teachers and students for their enthusiastic participation. We look forward to beginning our planning for next year's events.

Semester 2 Reports

It is heading into that time of year again when teachers provide feedback to parents/carers and students about student progress via a written report. Please speak with your child's teacher or the office if your situation has recently changed and you now require a duplicate report due to family circumstances. We are unable to provide duplicate reports for families living under one roof. Reports will be handed out in Week 10 of this term.
