We wanted to begin this week’s newsletter by acknowledging our second class of WHC SSP Netball Graduates. It was wonderful seeing Evie Christopher and Alex Konidaris graduate last week and everyone in the netball program is incredibly proud of their educational and netball journey throughout their time at WHC. We wish them all the very best as they move on to a new chapter in their life.

Our Year 11 and Year 10 students moved into their Early Commencement Program this week and got a taste of what is ahead for next year. This also sees the end of SSP Netball for the year for these students. Well done to all of our Year 10 & 11s on completing their studies and their commitment to the SSP Netball Program. We wish them a safe and happy holiday break and look forward to getting back into it with them next year in 2025.

Over the last few weeks we have focused on our court and education sessions around Fast Five. Learning the rules, strategies and also getting into teams and coming up with an opening dance routine. Last Thursday we saw the Year 7 & 8's kick off the Fast Five competition with a mini round robin and our Year 9-12's played on Wednesday. It has been fantastic to see the engagement, skill level and fun on display, and was also lovely having some parent/carer/sibling supporters in the stands.

Last week we held the New Zealand Tour Information Night. There was a fantastic turn out and many eager student athletes keen to attend. We are in the process of working through Expressions of Interest and will be notifying families by the end of this week.

A reminder to families that our Melbourne High Performance Day for Year 7, 8 and now Year 9 students will take place on Monday 2nd December. Details have been posted on Compass and we will see everyone nice and early at the train station ready for a great day.

As we are starting to head into December and the last few weeks of school, we encourage all our student athletes in the Netball Program to stay committed and finish off the year strong.

Wishing Our Female Specialist Soccer Program Students the Best of Luck on Their Fiji Tour!

Our talented female Specialist Soccer Program students are gearing up for an incredible journey as they head to Fiji to compete in the prestigious Ultimate Fiji Soccer Cup! After months of dedicated training, the girls are excited and ready to showcase their skills on an international stage.

This week-long trip will not only provide them with the opportunity to play against top-tier teams, but also allow them to experience the vibrant culture of Fiji. Alongside their soccer matches, the girls will be visiting Fijian communities, strengthening bonds through sports, and giving back. In preparation for the trip, the team has been gathering donations to share with the local communities they’ll visit, demonstrating their generosity and commitment to making a positive impact.

We wish our students the very best of luck as they embark on this exciting adventure! We know they will represent our school with pride, not only in their athleticism but also in their kindness and community spirit. Go girls!
