TRIBES - Giving Back

On Monday 25th November we had our final TRIBES session for the year. Students learnt about the Pettet Foundation and ways we can give back to the community. They then wrote Christmas cards and made ornaments that will be given to residents in local nursing homes. A big thank you to the Bilucaglia family for donated the Christmas cards. Congratulations to the Year 6 students for leading their final TRIBES session, you have done an incredible job!

Parent Potter in POPS Garden

Next “Parent Potter in POPS Garden” will be Friday 29th November 9 -

10:30am. 🌱 🌺 🍅 🥒 🪴

BYO coffee and join us in the POPS Sustainability Garden for a little blitz. Guaranteed fun, laughter and banter. Whether you don’t know the difference between a plant and a weed or you’re an experienced gardener, it’s a great opportunity to connect with other POPS parents and learn a thing or two about sustainable gardening and help upkeep our school garden for the best experience for our kids.

Specific jobs for this blitz will include:

- Digging out sad dirt from some garden beds.

- Filling garden beds with compost

- Laying cardboard on walkways and then covering them with mulch (to suppress weeds)

- pruning and removing unruly shrubbery

- adhoc weeding and tidying

The school has tools and gloves available but feel free to bring your own shovel for this one as we’re expecting a great turnout and many hands make light work.

No need to RSVP. If you can’t make this blitz but would like to be on the list for the next one or have any capacity for building and repairs or contacts for garden supplies please send your availability through via text to Emma Bannan (mum of Lottie in Grade 2) via 0423713969.

Seeking Volunteers To Care For Our Chickens

We are looking for families to sign up each week (including the school holidays) to help with food and water, plus take home any eggs you collect! Please check for the roster at

https://myschoolvolunteer.com.au/signup-event/chook-roster/ and sign up for a week or two.

The main jobs include;

  • organise to collect the keys from the school office on a Friday after school or between yourselves.
  • check there is enough food (pellets/mash) and water every 2 - 3 days or daily if you wish.
  • if you run out of food there are new bags in the garden shed, your key will open this. There are some seeds the hens love in a container there too – only ½ cup every 2-3 days.
  • there are also some egg cartons on top of the old fridge in there if you forget to bring one.
  • scoop out any mess from the laying boxes/hutch and put it in the bin just outside their hutch for composting. If you need more straw there is some in the shed too.
  • collect and enjoy the delicious eggs.
