Year 3/4

To all our wonderful 3/4 families,

As we reflect on this incredible year, we are filled with gratitude for your continued support with our students. Having such a supportive community has made all the difference.

We have had an amazing year and we are incredibly proud of all our students.  We have seen remarkable growth, both academically and personally, in everyone. It has been wonderful witnessing the students create wonderful friendships throughout the course of the year.

We wish all our students and their families a wonderful Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year and we look forward to seeing you all in 2025!

Best Wishes,

Mr Evans, Miss Fisher, Miss Rodgers, Mrs Craig & Mrs Jones.

Literacy

In Literacy, students have been learning about biographies and the many forms. First, students wrote about themselves in the form of an Autobiography, creating a 1 page fact file.

Then they developed a bank of open-ended questions to interview a classmate and created a Biography using GarageBand to record and share a Podcast. You can listen to these on Seesaw!

Finally, Students are further developing their biography knowledge by  interviewing a family member or classmate. These will be written in the form of a narrative non-fiction, similar to the 'Little People, Big Dreams,' style of books.

Maths

Over the last few weeks students have been exploring number patterns and algebra, completing and creating a variety of number patterns using all four operations. They have also been learning and practicing efficient strategies to solve multi-step worded problems.

Students have also been revising place-value knowledge

Humanities

To wrap up our Health and Wellbeing unit this term, we will be watching 'The Grinch' with a focus on the relationships and mental health of the characters in the story. Students will be answering some questions as they watch, analysing the different relationships The Grinch has during the film.

The students have really enjoyed our Health unit this term, learning about the key vitamins and minerals in our food needed to keep our bodies healthy, how important physical activity is to our overall health and wellbeing and also looking at how we can improve our Mental Health through Mindfulness and managing screen time and stress. These important life skills and knowledge has been really enjoyable for the student to learn about!

Concert

A massive congratulations to the whole 3/4 cohort on their amazing performance at our school concert. All the effort they put into their weekly practices certainly paid off as they danced up a storm.

Thankyou once again to all the parents for your support with the concert. The students costumes were amazing!
