A Message from the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

Spelling Bee 

We had another very successful Spelling Bee for our Primary students yesterday. The students competed in 6 rounds of Spelling activities ranging from writing the spelling word, selecting the correct spelling to complete a sentence, writing the definition of words and oral spelling of words. 

The final round was for the top 5 spellers in each class. This was a huge achievement to make it to this level. The words certainly increased in difficulty as the competition progressed. The staff were so thrilled by the improvement in all our students and in particular the skill of these finalists.

Congratulations to: Charles Hand, Ryder Hird, Kendall O’Rance, Dougie Pengilley & Brooklyn Stubbs from the Year 3/4 class. 

Daniella Cortis, Alex Davis, Shivansh Madan, Billie Peach & Sienna Thompson from the 5/6 class.

The competition was so close that we couldn’t separate Ryder Hird & Dougie Pengilley who were both awarded the Champion Trophy for Year 3/4. Billie Peach was the winner in 5/6.

Students were also recognised for their consistent effort all year in spelling lessons. Congratulations to Addie Allan, Andy Bartholomew, Lily Brown & Cynthia Chen.

Newcastle Permanent Mathematics Competition

Ricky Hird, Dani Cortis & Cynthia Chen received a Credit in this very challenging assessment.

Ryder Hird & Dougie Pengilley received a Credit in Mathematics.

Rosie Lee & Billie Peach received a merit in English and Dougie Pengilley a Credit.

In Writing Rosie Lee achieved a High Distinction; Billie Peach & Dougie Pengilley a Distinction and Ryder Hird a Credit.

I look forward to working with you as we build community and raise funds for equipment & resources for the students.

Special thanks to our outgoing President Jenni Hird for her many years of service to the school community and to Janet Bhardwaj who was the fundraising coordinator for this year. The PT & F has donated close to $10 000 to our school this year which is an amazing effort. Thank you!

Presentation Day Assembly

Don't forget our end of year Presentation Day Assembly is on next Monday 2nd December at school, under the new sails commencing at 9.15am.
