Sport

Hello Everyone,

It has been a very exciting term in Sport. Our Prep-Year 5 students have completed their 8 day swimming program. Bluefit at Sandringham do a wonderful job of organising and running the lessons. The lessons include stroke development and water safety. All students should have received a certificate.

Our Year 6 students recently enjoyed a picture-perfect day participating in a Water Safety program at Brighton Surf Lifesaving Club. The students traveled to the surf club via PT, eager to dive into the day's activities.

Once at the club, they rotated through four engaging and educational activities: CPR and first aid training, understanding currents and water hazards, practicing board rescues, and mastering buoy rescues. After lunch break, the students participated in group games and flag races, adding a touch of fun and friendly competition to the day.

Though the day was tiring, the students were enthusiastic and gained valuable skills and knowledge about water safety. A huge thank you to the incredible volunteers at Brighton Surf Lifesaving Club, whose expertise and dedication made the program such a success. This enriching experience is sure to become an annual tradition for our Year 6 students!

Our Swimming Carnival was held on Thursday 28th November also at Bluefit. There was 25m and 50m events of all strokes. As well as kickboard races for our Year 3-6’s.

Our Prep’s-2 students arrived at 11 and had an absolute ball with their teachers, peers, Year 6 Leaders and parent helpers playing fun water games such as collecting the floating toys for each house group, kickboard relays and noodle relays. A huge thank-you to our parent helpers who worked incredibly hard to ensure all events ran smoothly.

The St James Swim team will be announced before the end of the year, the results were taken from the 50m events at our Swimming Carnival.

Our bike education program has been rescheduled to next Tuesday the 10th December. All students in Years 3-6 will need to bring their bike and helmet on this day. Ausbike will be running the program for our students on this day.

The SSV Tennis competition has now changed its program. Tennis will now be held in Term 4 of 2025.
