Chat Function on Teams

Following a review of the use of Microsoft Teams by staff and students at Koo Wee Rup Secondary College, the decision has been made to turn off the chat function from the beginning of 2025. This decision has been made through the lens of both Child Safety, the risks associated with online bullying, and instant messaging services use during school hours that contradicts the DE mobile phone policy.

Our main form of communication from 2025 within the college will be through Compass or directly through school email accounts. Students will be provided with support resources next year to assist in this transition to the use of these communication platforms.
