All students attending St Louis de Montfort's Aspendale have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.

The new liturgical year always begins on the first Sunday of Advent. Each year of a three year cycle, the readings change and our Gospel raedings are taken from a different Gospel so that we might learn more about the life of Jesus. This year, Year C, most of our gospel readings come from Luke.

Advent is a season of waiting in joyful anticipation, not only are we waiting for Christmas day, but also for the time when Christ will come again.

The theme for the first week of Advent is HOPE. We are reminded that Jesus, our king, is coming. We need to be ready and prepare our hearts for Jesus. When we have trust in Jesus, there is no need to fear or worry about what is happening in our world.

Jesus brings us hope.

You may already be familiar with the advent calendar, a classic Christmas decoration with a centuries-old history. Waiting can be hard when we’re anticipating something special. An advent calendar helps us not only keep track of the passing days, but maintain our focus on the joyous day that is Christmas. The daily ritual of updating an Advent Christmas calendar provides a brief opportunity to reflect on the celebration to come and can be combined with a simple spiritual observance. Each day could reveal a good deed to be actioned or a prayer to be said.

Advent is a time where must prepare our hearts by healing any of our relationships that have been hurt. We must remember that God is in control and there is no need to fear things that go wrong in our world, and we must pray every day and show our love for God by how we treat others.

"...those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not growweary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:31
