Principal's News

All students attending St Louis de Montfort's Aspendale have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.

Good afternoon families,

I hope you have all survived our crazy Melbourne weather. Hopefully we will have a beautiful day for next week's Christmas Festival.

Thank you to all the families who supported our Brightness for Brain Cancer Day. This fundraiser means a lot to St Louis' and I am so happy we can do this each year and raise money to support research into a brain cancer cure.

State Cricket Final

Congratulations to our Yr 6 cricket team, they are STATE CHAMPIONS!!!

Well done to all the boys and to Mr Andrew as their coach. It is a super effort and I am sure they are all very proud of themselves.

Swimming programs

This week P-2 swimming program starts. The students will do to Mentone Aquatic Centre for 9 days of swimming lessons.

Beach Safety also starts this week and Yr 3-6 students will each have a session at Mentone beach through the week.

Swimming training

The second training session is on Wednesday 4 December 7-8 am at Toby Heanen's in Chelsea heights. It was fantastic to see 40 swimmers training last week.

DRI Leaders

As part of our Year 6 leaders program, we have 4 DRI leaders announced each year.

Congratulations to Robert, Skye, Matilda and Georgia F. These leaders will participate in their first role as DRI leaders on Tuesday. They will go to Sorrento and swim with the dolphins. The Dolphin Research Institute (DRI) has over 30 years of dolphin research.

DRI began in the late 1980’s by people who were concerned about local dolphins and their marine environment. The Institute has grown in to the well-managed, sustainable, not-for-profit conservation organisation that is the ‘go-to’ for just about all-things dolphin related in Victoria. The Dolphin Research Institute has been caring for our bays since 1991.  The DRI have an educational program called "i see i care " and our DRI leaders participate in this program. The program fosters a strong sense of marine and coastal care. The Leaders develop their skills in peer education, leaders, public speakers and environment champions.

Christmas Festival

Next Friday, 6 December we will be having our Christmas Festival. It begins at 2.30pm with the prep nativity play. It will then officially start at 3.30pm with class items in the hall. There will be Christmas stalls, food stalls, open mike and fundraising stalls ran by our students. All welcome so please support our major school event. You are most welcomed to bring a picnic and have it on the oval.

Enjoy your weekend
