Check out our Foundation students having an absolute blast!
On Thursday, 7th November, they took part in their very first Colour Run, and the excitement was contagious!
It was a joy to see all the smiling faces as they raced through the obstacles and vibrant splashes of colour.
Thanks to all the parent helpers and organisers who made it such a memorable day.
Level 1
The Level 1 students had lots of fun participating in the annual Colour Fun Run with their Level 6 buddies. The day was filled with vibrant colours and endless fun!
They had a blast, celebrated fitness, and made memories, all while getting covered in a rainbow of colours!
Level 2
Level 2 students enthusiastically took on the challenge of designing their own healthy cereals, using persuasive techniques to appeal to buyers!
Each student crafted an eye-catching front and back cover, complete with a friendly mascot, a catchy slogan, and bold, colourful illustrations. Students were even adding a personal health rating to highlight the benefits of their product.
With thoughtful word choices and imaginative designs, the students created cereal boxes that looked both tasty and appealing, using their persuasive skills to make their cereal the most tempting choice on the shelf!
Level 3
Our Level 3 students recently embarked on a short local excursion around the neighbourhood! This engaging walk allowed students to investigate the rules and laws that shape our community.
During the excursion, students observed various signage around the area, such as parking signs, road rules and rules at the KinderGarten and School.
They were also learning how these signs represent different rules and laws. This led to rich discussions about the differences between rules and laws, why they’re necessary, and how each serves to protect and organise our community.
The excursion helped students understand the importance of being responsible members of the community. By learning how to respect and follow both rules and laws, they’re gaining valuable insights into contributing positively to their surroundings.
Level 4
Our Level 4 students recently returned from an incredible camp at the Phillip Island Adventure Resort and what a fantastic experience it was!
Over the course of their stay, they participated in a variety of exciting activities that challenged them and helped build confidence, resilience and teamwork.
The students had a blast soaring down the flying fox, aiming for targets in archery, paddling through canoeing sessions and braving the thrilling big swing. They also had the opportunity to test their problem-solving skills by navigating a local maze, which added some puzzle-filled fun to the trip.
One of the most memorable moments was witnessing the adorable penguins at the famous Phillip Island penguin parade. Watching the penguins waddle back to shore at dusk was a unique experience that our students will cherish.
The camp was a wonderful opportunity for our students to strengthen friendships, build independence and create lasting memories. We’re so proud of how they embraced every challenge with enthusiasm and can't wait to see how they bring their newfound skills back to the classroom!
A huge thank you to our amazing parent helpers and school staff for attending the camp.
Level 5
Level 5 students have been working hard on publishing their very own picture storybooks for their Buddies.
After writing creative and engaging stories, students are now illustrating each page to bring their books to life. These one-of-a-kind books will be given to their Buddies at the end of year as a meaningful and memorable way to inspire a love of reading and storytelling in our Foundation students.
Level 6
Surf day was a day for the grade sixes, held on Monday 10 of November.
This event was an event that was free to all children, and hosted by the government.
The Jells Park Primary School kids lined up to hop on the bus to head to Smiths Beach in Phillip Island and the bus was filled with excitement. The trip to Phillip Island was around an hour and a half.
When we arrived at Phillip Island, half of the grade was split and half did a surfing lesson and the other did games on the beach. The half of the JPPS students that were going surfing were taken up to a shop near the top of the beach. After we had walked up to the shop we all had to line up to get our wetsuits fitted.
After everyone had their wetsuits on we were taken to a shipping container where we got our foam surf boards. We had to walk down stairs and sand to get to the beach where we had our first lesson for surfing. The first thing they told us was how to get into the water safely and the back arch position. Then we hopped out to the water and the coaches helped us to catch the waves. Then they pulled us back to the shore and taught us how to stand up on the board and how to be safe. Lots of people fell at the start but got the hang of it after a few attempts. Then nearly half of the kids surfing could get up on the board. The waves were extremely big even though we could only ride the white wash!
The other half of the group was on the beach having free time. There were many students doing different things, but most of the students in my group were either building castles or playing sports on the sand. If you still had a spare pair of clothes you could go for a swim in the ocean, but only a few students decided to do that .
Overall surf day was a blast and everyone enjoyed it. We will like to thank Mr Jenkins, all the teachers and parents who came and made this day possible.
