This week in Maths we are learning to subtract.

I can demonstrate subtraction using concrete materials.

VOCABULARY

Subtract - Taking away/minus a number from another number.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Toy Subtraction

Materials: Toy cars, blocks, or any small toys.

Activity: Start with a set number of toys (e.g. 8 toy cars). Ask your child to take away a certain number (e.g. take away 3 cars), then count how many are left. Repeat with different amounts.

Learning Goal: Use concrete objects to visualize subtraction by physically removing items and counting what remains.
