Year 5 Excursion to Scienceworks/Planeterium

At science works, we learnt that you can survive lightning in a car or a plane and you won't get electrocuted because the metal would protect you, as long as you didn’t touch it. However, if you are standing in the open or under a tree you will get shocked and probably be severely injured. (Trees are not a good place to hide under during a thunderstorm.) They had two tesla coils, there were small tesla coils that played a mario theme and the giant tesla coil, which was literally the size of a medium- sized tree, would show you if you are safe from the lightning or not. There were manikins and they showed you whether you are safe in the car and plane but you weren't safe in a cage that has something that attracts lightning.
Going to Science Works was heaps of fun, the students learnt a lot of new things, while having absolute fun. They created imaginary cars, used a "teleporting system” where they just popped out on the other side of the wall. We went to the famous planetarium, where they watched a show called “Where’s the Water?” It showed the students how much percentage of water is in the human body, and if there are certain signs of ice or water on other planets in the milky way.
The last station everybody went to was a sports area where you could measure how tall you are, test your balance, show off your reflexes and speed. It was cool that there were safe little mini games for testing your human capabilities. Then we went to part two of the sports place and there was a sound box that you could relax in, but some students put on disco mode and scary noises to play around. When we were trying to relax. After eating lunch, we went to the playground next to the lightning area, and had a lot of fun with the teachers supervising us.
Overall, it was fun to look at the lightning and the planets around the solar system and all the planets have water, ice and water vapour, which we learnt that water vapour is the gas form of water and ice is the solid form of water.
