Child Safe Standards

Child Safe Standard 2 - Child safety and wellbeing is embedded in organisational leadership, governance and culture

Good Shepherd school leaders and staff work together to create a safe, supportive environment where children are protected and feel valued. Clear policies (available on our website) and staff professional development help ensure all adults understand how to keep children safe. We encourage families to speak up if they have any concerns, as everyone has a role in supporting a child-safe school community.

Standard 3: Children and young people are empowered about their rights, participate in decisions affecting them and are taken seriously

Good Shepherd encourages children to have a say in decisions that affect them and makes sure their voices are heard and taken seriously. Our Student Representative Council is one way students can share their ideas and help shape school decisions. Staff create safe, supportive spaces where children feel respected and know they will be listened to. Our Buddy Program helps students learn about the importance of friendship and support and our Student Wellbeing lessons focus on the themes of gratitude, empathy, mindfulness and emotional literacy. Bullying is not tolerated at Good Shepherd. Families also play an important role by talking with their children about their rights and working with the school.
