Mr. Ryan's Report
With just over two weeks left in Term 3, our days remain as full and exciting as ever!
This week, we were excited to welcome three new students across Year 7-9. It has been wonderful to see the welcoming spirit of our College community shine as students settle in and become part of our school.
Our Year 7 and 8 students have been hard at work, diving into novel studies, exploring the design of F1 cars, investigating rocks, and engaging with many other exciting topics. With several assessments scheduled in the coming weeks, students are encouraged to stay organised and keep up with homework, revision, and due dates to set themselves up for success.
For our Year 9 students, Term 3 always seems the shortest but busiest. In Advisory, they have been fortunate to hear from a range of guest speakers who have shared their career journeys in fields such as agronomy, child care, hospitality, and finance. Students have gained valuable insights into preparing for job interviews, making a strong impression in the workplace, and the need to continually learn to keep up the advancements in all careers. We extend our thanks to Julie Bourke and the North Central LLEN for coordinating such a valuable program, and we look forward to more career stories in the coming weeks.
Our most exciting event on the Year 9 calendar, Grampians Camp, is fast approaching. Departing on Monday 15 September, students are already busy preparing for the trek. In the lead-up, they will be learning how to master the Trangia for campsite cooking, perfecting their packing skills and practising how to pitch their tents to avoid an overnight collapse! Event details will be available via Compass shortly.
Work Experience 2026!
Our 2026 cohort has hit the ground running and is already fundraising for their program. Students recently participated in a catering fundraiser, assisting with food preparation and service. Community members have praised the students not only for their hard work but also for their professionalism, positive attitude, and the way they conducted themselves. It’s wonderful to see our students representing the college so well in the community!
7-9 SEPEP Volleyball Tournament Kicks Off 🏐
In Sport, students have just begun their SEPEP (Sport Education in Physical Education Program) unit, and this year, the Yr. 9 cohort have chosen to run a Volleyball tournament.
In SEPEP, students take on the responsibility of running the competition themselves. This means they’re not only playing but also umpiring, scoring, organising equipment, recording results, and handling Best and Fairest voting.
Although we’re only one week in, the students have already shown great enthusiasm and teamwork in getting the tournament underway. Early matches have been full of energy, and it’s clear the students are eager to take ownership of their roles both on and off the court.
We’re excited to see how the tournament develops over the coming weeks and which team will rise to the challenge!
