VCE VM  News

Ms Kami Gillick-Lewis

On Tuesday August 5th Year 11 Vocational Major students co-hosted the Streeton Primary School Athletics Carnival at Willinda Park. As part of their Personal Development Skills program at Greensborough College, VCE VM students were required to engage with their local community and develop an understanding of community cohesion.

Year 11 students really stepped up to the mark on the day with teams of students rushing to support staff running the high jump, hurdles, track, triple jump and shotput events. Year 11 VM students were awarded merits for ‘small acts of kindness’ to ensure they were able to demonstrate empathy in action on the day. With Carlin Hoath sweeping up the first few merits on the day for consistently showing compassion and kindness to all primary students he supported. Well done Carlin! It was clear the Year 11s were upholding all the college values at Greensborough College of RESPECT, ASPIRATION, EQUALITY and COURAGE.

Some other students who received merits for excellence from staff and parents on the day include the wonderful shotput team: James Stuart, Owen Josifovski, Hudson White as well as Max Vita, Jasper Howell and Madyson Brock. A huge thank you to the staff at Streeton Primary- Principal Leon Bell and Jake Davis for promoting a great partnership between Streeton and Greensborough. Thank you to Patrick Willach the Personal Development Skills teacher who also assisted on the day. VM students truly demonstrated strong leadership and mentoring skills as well as an authentic connection to community enabling them to meet many of their Personal Development Skills health in action outcomes. Well done VM students!
