Careers Report

Ms Jane Alexander

Year 10 students completed a week of Work Experience during the last week of Term 2.

The Work Experience program gives students an opportunity to investigate potential career interests. Students were involved in a broad range of occupational settings including administration, hospitality, physiotherapy, speech pathology, retail, real estate, education, working with animals, hairdressing, fitness, childcare, education and numerous trades.

Many positive outcomes were reported from Work Experience. Most students reported that the program was very beneficial in either helping them to confirm a career interest area or prompting them to think again about their career goals. Some students acquired part-time work, and some were offered the possibility of an apprenticeship when they finish school.

Teachers visited students throughout the week and were very impressed with the way the students conducted themselves and with the initiative that many students showed in finding their placement. They should be proud of their fine achievements. I would also like to thank the staff who visited and contacted students during their work experience week.

Congratulations to all Year 10 students on completing your work experience!
