NAIDOC Event
We held our inaugural NAIDOC Week Celebrations last week where we were joined by Aboriginal Educator, Thane Garvey, Banyule City Mayor, Cr Elizabeth Nealy and new student to the College, Jamie Armistead. Thane conducted a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony while Jamie played the yidaki (didgeridoo). The whole school then went on a walk around the oval, commemorating Michael Long’s Long Walk from Melbourne to Canberra in 2004 to put aboriginal issues on the national agenda.
This was a special day for all of us at Greensborough College as it begins a new tradition for our school community. Thank you to Mr Turner, Ms Crupi, Mr Di Marco and the Wellbeing Team for facilitating the event.
Subject Selection for 2026
This is the time of the year when we start planning for 2026. There are course counselling days for students and parents coming up. Year 10 students will have course counselling on Wednesday 20th August and Year 9 students on Tuesday 26th August. There will be no classes for the respective year levels on these days.
Later in the term Year 8 students will select their Year 9 electives and Year 7 students will select their enrichment electives.
It is an exciting time thinking and planning. We encourage students to take up the opportunities to discuss with teachers, friends and family what they are considering for 2026.
VCE Vocational Major Application Process
All students considering entry into the VCE Vocational Major Program will need to complete an application form, attend a course counselling interview on Wednesday 20th August and then an interview with a selection panel which will include one of the principals.
Students considering the VCE Vocational Major program need to demonstrate commitment to learning, meet attendance requirements, show learning growth and explain how the program will support their pathway plans. It is not an automatic entry process. Students who do not complete the application process are not likely to be enrolled in the program.
The application forms are now available from Mr Ellul.
