Year 5-7 Academic Achievement Awards

Years 5 – 7 Academic Achievement Awards will be presented during the College assembly this week, Wednesday 20th August from 1-1:50pm. Parents of award recipients have been emailed and are welcome to attend, please note that seating is limited. 

Award recipients will be included in the newsletter next week. 

Year 7 and Year 11 Head of College Awards

During their ASH Lesson on Monday and Tuesday this week, we presented our Year 7 and Year 11 Head of College Awards.  These awards are presented to students in Years 5 to 12 who receive all A’s in the Learning Behaviour criteria (Punctual and Prepared, Application and Homework, Behaviour) on their end of semester report.

End of Term 3 Exam Blocks 

Year 7-12 End of Term 3 Exam Block schedules will be released to all students and parents at the start of next week. Please check your emails or access the Parent Orbit App. for a copy of these schedules. 

 

 It is an expectation that all students will be at school for their exams. A Medical Certificate will be required, if a student is absent from these important assessment tasks.  No exams will be sat early. 

Subject Selection Year 9 2026 

Current Year 8 students will be choosing their electives for Year 9 2026 over the next few weeks.  The Year 9 Subject Handbook along with instructions for selecting subjects will be sent shortly to all families. Boys are encouraged to select subjects that they would like to try and that they would enjoy.  

 

Electives need to be decided by Thursday 4th September

Year 11 – Music Extension and English/Literature Extension 

Any Year 11 student who may be interested in undertaking an Extension subject in either Music or English/Literature in Term 4 (Unit 3 & 4) must contact the Academic Care Team to arrange an interview. The deadline for this is the end of next week. 

Term 3 Assessment Schedules  

Student specific due dates for Term 3 Assessment items can now be viewed in the Parent Orbit App. Your son is encouraged to look at their subjects and transfer all assessment due dates to his College Diary.

Registering for my QCE - Competition 

The myQCE competition opens closes on Friday 19 September 2025. It offers Years 10–12 students a chance to win one of three prizes: a MacBook Air, an iPad Air with Magic Keyboard, or a pair of AirPods Max headphones. To enter the competition students must:

 

  • follow the myQCE Instagram account 
  • like the myQCE competition Instagram post 
  • tag three friends in the comments 
  • register for the Student Portal (if they haven’t already), log in and check/update their information such as their personal email address and phone number. 

 

Students can enter the competition and find more information at: https://myqce.qcaa.qld.edu.au/get-motivated/get-involved The QCAA will contact the three winners by email, and their names will be published on the myQCE website, myQCE Instagram account and in the Term 4 myQCE update

Marist Subject Support 

Marist Subject support tutoring is off and running.

Tutoring is offered by Old Boys and takes place in the from 7:30am to 8:30am and also 3:30pm to 4:30pm Tuesday to Thursday each week.

Old Boys Tutoring List

Please find here a list of Old Boys who are available to tutor your son outside of school hours. This list can also be located on the parent portal or via this link. Please note it is the parent’s responsibility to organise and liaise tutoring times with the Old Boys.

Year 12 Night Study Sessions    

Year 12 Night Study Session will commence again this week - Wednesday night between 5:00pm and 8:00pm. As usual, students will need to sign in and out. They can arrive and leave at any time between 5:00pm – 8:00pm; but they are not able to keep coming and leaving during the night.

Academic Bootcamps 2025 - Griffith University

We’re excited to share that Griffith’s popular Academic Bootcamps are back for the September holidays!

 

These four-day courses help Year 12 students boost their final exam results with support from experienced teachers currently delivering these subjects in schools.

 

Students will:

  • Improve exam confidence
  • Learn effective study strategies
  • Revise and consolidate knowledge
  • Explore university pathways at Griffith

 

Available in-person or online. Subjects include General Maths, Maths Methods, Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Psychology.

 

Students can attend up to two bootcamps across consecutive weeks.
