Principal's Message

.At Wembley Primary School, we acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which our school sits, the Woi-wurrung and Boonwurrung people of the South-Eastern Kulin Nation.
We celebrate and respect the oldest continuing culture and recognise the importance of education in truth telling, equity and justice.
We pay our respects to Elders past and present and recognise and value the learning that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, colleagues and community bring into our schools.
Term 3: Week 5-6 Update
We finished this week with a wonderfully inclusive atmosphere around the school, as students came together to celebrate 'Wear It Purple' day, thanks to our Diversity and Inclusion captains, Lillian Boulis, Milla Downey and Nessie Taylor, along with our Year 6 Facilitator, Sofia Courtney.
Students, staff and families made an effort to wear something purple or rainbow today, to show support and demonstrate that everyone and all families are welcome at Wembley. To top the event off, they ran an enormously successful bake sale, that raised over $1300 which will be donated to the charity, Minus 18.
Our Book Week celebrations were also a big hit in Week 5, with parents being invited onsite during Session 1 to take part in a reading lesson, followed by the Book Week parade. There was noticeable effort across all year levels to come dressed as a character or theme from a book, which made the event more meaningful, whilst door displays reflected key aspects of each year level's reading foci:
Prep: Adventure!
Year 1: Snail and the Whale
Year 2: We Live on a Bus
Year 3: CHALK
Year 4: TBC
Year 5: Allen Say: Origami
Year 6: Shaun Tan
Finally, congratulations to our costume winners, who were announced at Assembly today!
A big thank you to our WPA who held their Jazz & Shiraz fundraiser 🍷 on Saturday 16th August. They have shared a write up of the event, on the WPA page, however we wanted to thank them for their continued efforts - the proceeds will go towards our fencing and shade sail projects. Both of these projects are scheduled to commence work over the September school holidays.
Our next newsletter will be in Week 10 - we look forward to sharing an update with you then.

Prep Camp Event
What an incredible evening at Prep Camp!
Our Prep students experienced school in the dark this week! It was an evening full of excitement. The Preps enjoyed an engaging puppet show all about emotions, stretched and relaxed during a calming yoga session, and danced their little hearts out in the hall. What a wonderful way to connect to our Concept unit around feelings and emotions, learn some wellbeing strategies, and celebrate being part of our Prep community! Thank you to all families that made it possible for their child/ren to attend.

JSC
Wembley Junior School Council (JSC) is proud to host our first event in support of R U OK? Day. This day is all about promoting kindness, connection, and care within our school community.
Date: Thursday 11th of September 2025
How We Are Getting Involved:
- Checking in with others: On R U OK? Day, we encourage everyone to ask a simple but powerful question: “Are you okay?” and to genuinely listen. This small act helps create a caring and supportive school environment.
- Wearing house colours: Show your house pride by wearing your house colour! This demonstrates unity and reminds us that no one is left out, we stand together.
- Celebrating our school values: Our school values come alive when we check in with others, show kindness, include everyone
Why Does It All Connect?
- R U OK? Day reminds us to support our friends and peers by checking in and listening.
- House Colours symbolise teamwork, belonging and community spirit.
- School Values guide us to act with kindness, empathy, and inclusion.
How You Can Help
We invite our whole school community to support R U OK? Day by donating a gold coin on the day. All proceeds will go to Kids Helpline, a vital service offering support to young people in need.

Thank you Wembley!
Upcoming Events & General Reminders
A reminder to please observe the 'no parking' signage on Hawkhurst Street and St Leonards Avenue in certain stretches - we have had a number of people share that cars are parking in areas that should be kept clear. We understand that this can make pick up more convenient in the moment, but also reduces the flow of traffic and can make road crossing unsafe for students. Safety first please!
On Friday 5 September, the Wembley Parents’ Association will host our annual Father’s and Special Person’s Stall.
Students will have the opportunity to purchase a special gift for an important person in their life. The stall is accepting cash only, with items ranging from between $2–$9. There will also be a limited number of special $15 gift packs available for purchase.
A big thank you to Linh Krygger and the entire WPA team for organising this event for our Wembley community.
