This Week At OOPS

Production

*More photos from the production will be published in next week's Harvest.

Last Friday, our Grade 5 and 6 students took part in their first AusCycle session with a visiting cycling coach. The session focused on bike safety, developing riding skills, and most importantly—having fun!

The second session will take place on Thursday, September 18th

A big thank you to all students and families for bringing bikes along and supporting the program. 🚴‍♀️🚴

Wow! Even after a huge 3 days at camp last week, the Year 4s are straight back into learning. Today we explored fractions by making our own fraction walls. We were able to identify equivalent fractions and see how our division skills could be used to make fractions we couldn’t fold.

Our Year 3 and 4 students had a fantastic time at their camps last week.   The sun was shining (most of the time!) and wonderful memories were made!

This week in Prep, we learnt about ocean animals, introduced the /th/ digraph, practised different strategies to subtract numbers, and of course, celebrated our buddies being part of the Shrek production!

Our Discovery prompts were:

English: What can you make with your thumb?

Maths: How can you use the icy pole sticks to help solve these subtraction problems?

Collage: What features do these ocean animals have?

Construction: Can you make a fishing rod?

Dramatic Play: What kind of show can you put on?

Fine Motor: What did you thread today?

For the past two weeks, the grade 1s have been learning to identify and create patterns. Today they created their own pattern hats.

On Thursday a terrible crime was committed! Nana Dot and Talking Freddie, 1JM and 1KR’s classroom puppets, were stolen! A note was left giving directions for the Grade 1s to follow to find them. The Grade 1s took the note very seriously and worked together to move silently through the school, following directions. The directions led to Duncan’s office!!!! The Grade 1s were shocked, with many of them saying, “Duncan should know better!” and “We need to call the police!”. We spent the rest of the afternoon hiding objects for each other to find, using the directional language we learnt in the hunt to guide one another around the school. What an exciting afternoon!
