Welcome to our new 1/2M classroom teacher, Ms. Emily Fredricks! Emily comes to us as a highly regarded Graduate Teacher from Australian Catholic University. She also has experience in a support role at nearby Kingsville Primary School. Emily accompanied the 1/2M students on their excursion to the zoo last week, and has been building connections with the students in the classroom this week. Welcome Emily!
Welcome to Term 3 1/2DR Monday and Tuesday teacher, Elena Bertagnolio! Elena is an experienced teacher and well known CRT to most Dinjerra students. Elena has commenced teaching 1/2DR and will conclude in Week 9, on Tuesday the 16th September, which is the last Tuesday of Term 3. Verity Dester will return at the start of Term 4. Marta Rodrigues continues to teach 1/2DR from Wednesdays to Fridays. Welcome Elena!
In other staffing news, Dinjerra Assistant Principal, Mark Catterson has been asked to continue in the Acting Principal role at Carlton PS until the end of Term 3. I wish Mark all the best in this role.
Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.
Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies. The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 18 August to Friday 19 September 2025. All families are invited to participate in the survey. You will receive a generic link via Compass on Monday 18th August.
The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.
The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Resources are also available in additional languages to assist parents / caregivers / guardians who speak a language other than English at home.
Please reach out to your child’s teacher, or the school directly for survey guides in your language.Last year we used the survey results to develop our communication strategies to families.
Please contact me if you would like more information.
Thank you to the parents and carers who attended the Parent Forums for the School Review on Monday 11th August. On the same day, the review panel also facilitated student and staff forums, to ensure we have an overall picture of the opinions of all of our stakeholders. We are coming up to the final day of the review on Thursday 21st August, where the panel will form new Key Improvement Strategies and Targets for our next 4 years.
So far, the review has been an incredible process, where we have reflected on the successes of the last four years. We are looking forward to now shifting from the ‘transformative phase’ to our new phase of learning and growth.
