Middle school news

Middle School Report
The start of the school year at Aberfoyle Park High School has been extremely positive, with middle school students settling well into routines and reconnecting with learning.
A key focus this term is on creating strong foundations for learning by prioritising student wellbeing, engagement and connection to school, their peers and teachers. We have the year 7 camp at ALF Max coming up in week 6, followed by NAPLAN testing for all year 7 and 9 students.
Starting high school or coming back from the summer break can be a nervous time for our families and students. Students can always reach out to their care group teacher or a member of the wellbeing team located in student services. Our care group teachers are focusing on teaching our school values of respect, care, compassion, and honesty in care group, and on promoting well-being in learning.
Together, these shared values create consistent, predictable routines where every student can thrive academically and socially. We look forward to a fantastic year ahead.

Year 7 students settle in: new beginnings at Aberfoyle Park High School
It has been wonderful to observe our Year 7 cohort begin to settle into the routine of secondary school life here at Aberfoyle Park.
Despite the heat on their very first day, our year 7 students showed resilience and enthusiasm, gathering in the gym for a warm welcome from staff and leadership. It has been particularly delightful to see so many students forging new friendships and supporting each other as they transition.
In Science, students have completed their first practical activity of the year and earned their Bunsen burner licence. This important milestone not only marks their introduction to laboratory safety but also their growing independence in the classroom.
Meanwhile, in HASS, students have been exploring themes of rules and laws, gaining insights into how these shape our school and the wider community.
We held our first whole-school assembly, where year 7 students were introduced to our dedicated Wellbeing Leaders, Jules Hannaford (Ms H) and Alan Peat. The team plays a vital role in supporting students and promoting positive mental health, and we encourage all students to reach out whenever they need support.
Looking ahead, we are excited for our annual year 7 camp, scheduled for Week 6. The camp is always a highlight, providing a fantastic opportunity for students to develop friendships and teamwork. We have planned a variety of engaging activities designed to build relationships further and ensure everyone feels included.
Thank you to parents and carers for your ongoing support. We look forward to sharing more successes as our Year 7s continue to grow and thrive.
