Welcome Back

Welcome back to the 2026 school year and a very warm welcome to all families joining our Golden Square Primary School community for the first time.

We are delighted to welcome our new Prep children and families as they begin their school journey with us, along with new students and families joining our school in the upper year levels. We are proud of our inclusive, caring community and look forward to getting to know you over the coming weeks.

As we return from the Christmas and New Year break, all children are experiencing a transition - settling into a new grade, a new classroom, new routines, and new relationships. We recognise that this time of year can bring a mix of excitement and uncertainty, and our staff are focused on ensuring every child feels safe, supported and connected as they begin the year.

Building strong relationships sits at the heart of our work. As children settle into their new learning environment, staff take time to get to know each child, establish consistent routines, and create classrooms where students feel a strong sense of belonging and confidence to engage in learning. We know that tranisitons look different for every child, and we value working closely with families as partners in this process.

A practical example of this commitment is our Start Strong, Work as One: Family Meetings, which have taken place last week for all students. These meetings provide an opoprtunity for families to meet their child's teacher, share important information, and become familiar with the learning space their child will be part of for most of the year. These early conversations play an important role in building shared understanding and strong home-school partnerships from the very beginning.

At Golden Square Primary School, we believe that learning thrives when children feel known, valued, and supported. Guided by our shared values of Respect, Safety and Learning, we look forward to a positive and successful year ahead as we continue to work as one.

Working as One: Communication at Golden Square Primary School

Clear, respectful communication is essential to strong partnerships between home and school. At Golden Square Primary School, we are committed to open, timely, and constructive communication that supports student learning, wellbeing, and positive relationships across our community.

We recognise that families and staff share a common goal - the success and wellbeing of every child. Our Communication Policy outlines agreed ways we work together to ensure communication is respectful, purposeful, and effective. This helps create clarity for families and consistency across the school.

We value communication that is timely and considerate, while also recognising that staff balance communication with their core responsibility of teaching and supporting students. Clear processes help us respond thoughtfully and ensure conversations remain focused on student needs.

Our Communication Policy also reflects our shared responsibility to model respectful communication for our children. By working collaboratively, listening openly, and engaging positively, we strengthen the learning environment for everyone.

We encourage families to familiarise themselves with our Communication Policy, which is available on our school website and was shared with families at our Start Strong, Work as One: Family Meetings
