Welcome back to all our Year 8 students and families. We are excited to begin another year of learning, growth, and new opportunities. Year 8 is an important stage as students continue to build independence, resilience, and positive learning habits. We look forward to working in partnership with families to support students throughout the year and encourage everyone to get involved, stay organised, and make the most of all that 2026 has to offer.
Meet the team for 2026

We are so excited you're here!

Staff completed two Professional Learning Days on Tuesday 27th January and Wednesday 28th January, ahead of students returning to school on Thursday and Friday. We began the mornings with a special performance by Matthew from Clontarf, who welcomed us by playing the didgeridoo, setting a respectful and reflective tone for the days. Following this, staff engaged in a range of professional learning sessions focused on strengthening teaching practice, collaboration, and preparing for a positive and successful year ahead for our students.

On Monday 2nd February, Year 8 students attended an informational assembly held in the Forge Theatre. The assembly provided students with important information about expectations for the year ahead, including wellbeing, learning routines, and key school processes. It was also a great opportunity to reinforce our values and set a positive tone for a successful year in Year 8. We thank staff and students for their support in making the assembly run smoothly.

During Headstart, 8A Humanities explored the amazing history of the Vikings. Our trivia competition showed how much knowledge our class already had but helped to ask those curious questions to expand this information and research even more! We know Vikings were fisherman and sailors and travelled vast distances to settle in England, France, Ireland and Scotland.
Our class followed the Viking boatbuilders to design and create their own longboats with dragons on the bow and shields along the sides with oars. Fun activity for everyone!

We are excited to announce Year 8 Camp dates for 2026.
We ask families to please save the date - Wednesday 18th March to Friday 20th March, with further details including costs, permission forms, and packing information to be shared soon. Thank you for your support. Please stay tuned for more information in upcoming newsletters.
