Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,
We are delighted to welcome 300 new students and 15 new staff members to Bairnsdale Secondary College this year. It’s great to have you all on board! We have had a very positive start to the year, with students motivated, respectful and ready to learn.
As our College continues its journey from good to great in 2026, we are further strengthening our teaching practice through the implementation of the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM) across the College. This work will focus on aligning teaching practices to ensure high-quality, consistent, and effective instruction that meets the diverse needs of our students. Our staff remain committed to building strong relationships with students, establishing clear routines, and delivering meaningful programs and activities.
On our first student-free day, the Pride in Culture team warmly welcomed staff back to the College, with a special welcome extended to our new staff members. Across the two days, professional learning focused on strengthening culture and relationships, with staff engaging in sessions designed to build knowledge and understanding of excellent teaching and learning.
Our Year 7 students have made an outstanding start to their secondary education. This week, they attended The Summit camp for three days, participating in outdoor adventure experiences designed to foster confidence, resilience, and connection.
The tone around our College is purposeful and respectful as students and staff establish the routines and expectations that support learning and wellbeing for all.
We are excited to have new staff join our College community this year and wish them every success as they settle in over the coming weeks.
We look forward to a rewarding year ahead and are committed to building strong partnerships with our students and families.
Sincerely,
Tony Roberts
Principal
