Grade 4

Reading:

In Reading, we finished our class novel His Name Was Walter. The story follows a young boy who discovers an unusual friendship that helps him better understand himself, others, and the importance of kindness and acceptance. Students enjoyed discussing the characters’ choices and reflecting on how Walter’s presence changed the main character’s perspective.

Writing:

In Writing, students completed their narrative pieces inspired by the story Walter. They used the text as a starting point to develop their own ideas, focusing on character, setting and clear story structure. It was great to see students take risks with their writing and show how much their storytelling skills have developed.

Maths

In Maths, students spent time revising and strengthening their understanding of the four operations:  addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. This consolidation has helped build confidence and fluency, ensuring they are well prepared for the expectations of Grade 5.

 End of Year!

To celebrate the end of the year, the Grade 4s enjoyed a fun excursion to the movies to see Zootopia 2. It was a great way to relax together, practise being responsible in a public setting, and enjoy some well-earned time with friends. The students were fantastic ambassadors for our school and loved sharing one last special experience as a class.

Last Friday, there was plenty of excitement as students found out which class they will be in next year and had the chance to meet their new teacher. It was a lovely way to finish the week and helped make the transition to the next school year feel real and positive.

As we come to the end of the year, it’s been wonderful to see how much the Grade 4s have grown, not just academically, but in confidence, independence and resilience. They should be very proud of their efforts, and it’s been a pleasure to teach such a fantastic group of students this year.
