Grade 2

Literacy

This term, the Grade 2s have absolutely loved completing their very first novel study, reading George’s Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl. Each day, students recalled what happened in the previous chapter, made predictions about what might come next, listened to the teacher read aloud, and participated in choral or partner reading of key passages. They also answered comprehension questions and explored new vocabulary. The ending of the book took many students by surprise — ask your student to tell you all about it!

Maths

In Maths, students have been learning how to solve worded problems using the bar model and the CUBES method. They have practised applying these strategies across all four operations and are becoming much more confident in explaining their thinking and choosing the right method for each problem.

Wellbeing

Our wellbeing focus this term has been on playing fairly and including others. Students have explored what fairness looks like, how to take turns, and ways to make sure everyone feels welcome and valued in games and group activities.

Funtopia

Last week, we went to Funtopia, and the students had the best time! They enjoyed exploring the huge playground, braving the giant slides, and challenging themselves on the rock climbing wall. We were so proud of how confidently they tried new things and how beautifully they represented Grayling Primary School. Their behaviour, teamwork, and enthusiasm showcased our PROUD values throughout the entire excursion.

Thank you!

Thank you so much for your support throughout the year. We have absolutely loved spending each day with your children. They have shown incredible growth—in their learning, confidence, and relationships—and we couldn’t be prouder of the amazing young people they are becoming. We hope you all have a wonderful, safe, and restful break!
