END OF YEAR CONCERT

The weather was certainly on our side last Thursday evening, providing the perfect backdrop for a truly beautiful Christmas Concert. Families, students and staff came together to perform, relax and enjoy a wide variety of performances throughout the night.

Our annual concert is always a much-anticipated event on the school calendar. While it marks the Christmas season, it is also so much more than that. It is a moment for our community to pause, to be present with one another, and to celebrate the talents, growth and joy of our students. The sense of connection and pride felt throughout the evening was a wonderful reflection of the strong and supportive community we share.

Thank you to our students for their outstanding performances, to our staff for their dedication and preparation, and to our families for joining us in making the evening such a special one.

A big thank you to Mrs Ellingworth and Mrs Howell for their behind the scenes work and leadership to bring this event to life. Lastly, how good were those sausages! A Couple of fine grill masters!!

TRANSITION

On Friday 12th our Grayling students participated in our whole school transition program. Orientation provides students with the opportunity to meet their new Learning Community peers and staff. It was a positive and welcoming experience, helping to lay the foundations for the year ahead.

Times of change, such as moving into a new Home Group or working with new teachers, can naturally bring a mix of emotions. Students may feel excitement and anticipation, alongside some understandable nervousness. These feelings are a normal part of growing and transitioning, both at school and in life.

This is a valuable time for families to talk with their children about these emotions and to share strategies for managing change with confidence. It also provides an opportunity to revisit and reinforce our school value of PROUD, encouraging positive self-talk and highlighting the many opportunities that come with new beginnings, including forming new friendships and connections.

A friendly reminder that school resumes for students on Wednesday 28 January 2026. All students have received their ‘Meet the Teacher’ information, along with a map showing the location of their new classroom for 2026.

PRINCIPAL AWARD WINNERS

Congratulations to our Principal’s Award recipients for the term. These awards recognise students who have consistently demonstrated our school values through their actions and behaviour across the term.

At Grayling, celebrating students who model positive, pro-social behaviour is incredibly important to us. Teachers often share how challenging it is to select just one student from each class, which is a true reflection of the strong culture, values and talent that exist across our school community.

Well done to all of our award recipients, Mr Abdallah, Mr Clydesdale and Mrs Lindberg are very proud of the positive example you set for others.

YEAR IN REVIEW

As a school community, we have much to celebrate this year. Across our classrooms, whole-school programs and community events, the achievements of our students, staff and families have been truly remarkable.

Within our classrooms, we strengthened teaching and learning through the successful implementation of novel studies, supported by a significant investment to ensure every student has access to a high-quality text. We also introduced an evidence-based spelling program, now consistently embedded from Foundation to Year 4. In addition, literacy and numeracy intervention programs were expanded beyond what the school has previously offered, ensuring more targeted and timely support for students who need it most.

Our students continue to impress us with the way they uphold our school values of PROUD, striving to be the best version of themselves each day. Their growth, effort and commitment are a credit to both their hard work and the strong support surrounding them.

We are incredibly grateful for the ongoing collaboration with our families. Your involvement and support were evident throughout the year at events such as Harmony Day, House Athletics, Cross Country, parent information sessions, the STEM Expo, Book Week, the Christmas Concert, and our Fathers’ and Mothers’ Day breakfasts. These shared experiences strengthen our sense of community and enrich school life for everyone.

Schools thrive through collective effort, and we would like to sincerely thank all Grayling staff for their dedication, professionalism and unwavering commitment to our students.

We wish all families a safe, happy and relaxing holiday break, and look forward to welcoming everyone back for another exciting year of learning.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year.

Warm regards,

Lach Clydesdale and Meagan Lindberg
