YEAR 6

FROM THE TEAM

Welcome back to an exciting year! The students have settled back into routines and enjoyed seeing friends and teachers after a relaxing break. We have dived in to learning about our school and classroom expectations while creating positive relationships in our Year 6 space. 

 

Mrs Taylor – ‘I am looking forward to a fun year with my students, it is my hope that my students will enjoy learning and become resilient, responsible and respectful learners. 

 

Mrs Fabrizio – ‘6B are off to a great start, I can’t wait to work with them this year. 

 

Miss Marie – ‘I am excited to see some familiar faces after teacher this cohort in Year 4, I am looking forward to having a fun and productive year’.

LEARNING INTENTIONS FOR NEXT WEEK

Reading

  • We are learning to explore the use of vocabulary choices within a text (descriptive language / imagery to convey emotion) 
  • We are learning to explain how an author's vocabulary choices can make us feel. 
  • We are learning to explore and explain the purpose and main idea of texts. 
  • We are learning to summarise a text we have read. 
  • We are learning to only include the most important details in our summary. 

 

Writing

  • We are learning to Follow the rule of three in sentences 
  • We are learning to Understand Clauses 

 

Maths

  • We are learning to explore and find the mean, median, mode and range of data sets  
  • We are learning to create and interpret data gathered independently 
  • We are learning to evaluate which graph is best suited to different data sets 

 

Inquiry

  • We are learning to understand Federation. We are learning to understand the key figures who influenced federation.  
  • We are learning about the events and ideas around federation  We are learning to explore and understand the equal rights and citizenship of groups of people.
