YEAR 2

FROM THE TEAM

Welcome back to a brand-new school year! We are delighted to share our first Year 2 newsletter with you and to have such a positive start to the year. Our classrooms have been buzzing as we settle into Grade 2, revisiting our shared expectations and exploring what it means to be Respectful, Responsible, and Resilient members of the Ramlegh Park Primary School community. We’ve also enjoyed spending time getting to know our students and building strong classroom connections. Over the coming week, we warmly invite families to introduce themselves to their child’s classroom teacher—we look forward to getting to know you and working together for a wonderful year ahead. 

LEARNING INTENTIONS FOR NEXT WEEK

Reading

• We are learning to read and spell words using the long a sound (a_e, ai, ay, a, ea, ey, eigh) 

• We are learning to understand texts we read through using comprehension strategies; vocabulary, main idea and summarising.  

   

Writing

• We are learning to say our T4W text (Trixie Trickster) 

• We are learning to understand our T4W text 

   

Maths

• We are learning to recognise and represent two-digit numbers 

   

Inquiry

• We are learning to respect and celebrate differences within individual families. 

We are starting to dive into our first Inquiry unit of the year called ‘Journey Through the Generations’. Through this unit of work we will be talking about and exploring our families and any special traditions you may have as a family. It would be wonderful if you could spend some time telling your child about your family background and culture so that we are able to share and celebrate our diversity through our learning.
