Supporting Our Students:
Local Wellbeing and Youth Services in Saltwater & Point Cook
At our school, the wellbeing of every student is a priority. We know that growing up comes with challenges – from school pressures and friendships to big emotions and family changes. Fortunately, there are a range of free and accessible local services available right here in the Wyndham City area – including Saltwater and Point Cook – to support our young people and their families.
Wyndham City Youth & Children Counselling Support
One of the key services available to families is the Youth and Children Counselling Support program offered by Wyndham City Council. This free, confidential counselling service is available to children aged 8 – 11 and young people aged 12 – 25 who live, work or study in the Wyndham area. Qualified counsellors work with individuals to explore whatever is on their mind, whether it’s anxiety, friendships, school stress, family changes, or other concerns. Counselling is offered at youth service centres (including Point Cook and Hoppers Crossing), community venues, and even via telehealth when needed. Wyndham’s team can also support families in accessing the right longer-term help if additional support is required. There is no cost to access this service, and a referral form is all that’s needed to get started.
Youth Services @ Point Cook & Local Programs
We have a local youth drop in space aged 12+ on Friday afternoon at Saltwater community centre. Youth Services at Point Cook (1-21 Cheetham Street) also offers a welcoming space for young people aged 12 – 25 to connect, build skills and enjoy activities that help boost wellbeing. Regular programs include social activities like the Courtside Program, wellbeing workshops such as Get Psych’d, and other events that encourage positive connection and self-growth. These are great opportunities for young people to make friends, try new experiences and feel part of our wider community.
Additional Support & Resources
If extra support is needed, Wyndham City Youth Support Services also provide access to broader resources, including links to helplines such as Kids Helpline and Lifeline, peer support information, and targeted programs for students at risk of disengagement.https://www.wyndham.vic.gov.au/services/youth-services
