On Friday, Year 10 marked the end of their junior high school experience with a special Celebration Assembly. The students also celebrated completing Year 10 with a celebration dinner on Thursday night at the Bomaderry Bowling Club.

Congratulations Year 10!
Please keep these young people in your prayers over the coming weeks as they commence their seniors studies and some of them leave school to begin traineeships and apprenticeships.

Kindergarten students were thrilled to create their own Farmers' Market, with the generous help of our NCS community. Families and staff donated produce from their excess, while students spent their day harvesting carrots, potatoes and beetroot from their own school garden. We sorted our produce, packaged and priced it, then set up our wonderful shop ready for customers. NCS staff shopped up a storm, with Kindy students using all their powers of persuasion to up-sell at every opportunity. Staff members reported it as being the most fun shopping trip they've had in years. Later in the day some students were also able to serve their own families and take home some goodies for themselves.
The fun wasn't over for Kindy though, as this week they cooked some yummy chips with some potatoes that were set aside from their own garden. What a delicious treat, and a strong motivator for our budding farmers!
Kindergarten extend a HUGE thanks to all who contributed to our venture. From the families who donated goods, the maintenance team, and our wonderful customers. With your help, we raised $400 to contribute to our school's Compassion sponsor children.

Over the past two weeks, Year 1 students spent time in the library with Mrs Hefferan and an AMAZING group of helpers, as we had an insight into life in Year 2. Mrs Bignell, Mrs Norman, Mr McLennan and Mrs Dhinakaran worked alongside some kind and helpful Year 7 and Year 8 students helping us explore a range of activities. (We couldn't have done this without them!)
The students completed an author study, learning many facts about Eric Carle, the amazing author and illustrator of more than 70 children's stories. The children read stories, completed caterpillar challenges (can you make one that is longer than your arm??), played insect Maths games, created crazy mixed up chameleons, and joined in construction corner, just to name a few.
To celebrate our learning together, we enjoyed an iceblock, before playing some games outside. Congratulations Year One - you are now officially ready for Year Two (after Christmas).

Our Stage 3 girls basketball team travelled to Penrith for the CSSA Primary State Basketball finals on Monday 10 November 2025. After a very early, pre-dawn, start our school mini bus arrived at the stadium in Cambridge Park, in suburban Penrith.
The team, along with their supporters (parents, grandparents and siblings) took their places in the grandstands and began preparations for their three matches. In the first game we faced Charlton CC from the Hunter Valley. The game was evenly matched in terms of possession and chances, but ultimately the Charlton girls scored more of their chances than we did and ran out winners by 12-2. Our points were scored by Alexandria.
After a quick break the team faced Wahroonga AS from Sydney. Their team were a step up again from our first round opponents, but we certainly pushed them all the way (metaphorically speaking!). Again if we'd taken more of our chances the scores would have been much closer than the 12-1 scoreline suggests. Tianna withstood the pressure and slotted our single point from the free throw line. This team eventually won the whole tournament, so to keep them to only 12 points was pleasing.
In our final match the girls changed up the starting line up to give different players chances to begin a game. Our opponents this time were Norwest CC, also based in Sydney. They brought their 'A-Game' and even though we managed to score more points, we also conceded more in a game that finished 31-6. Addi, Tianna and Matilda scored points for NCS in this match.
Although we didn't manage to win any games, the team's sporting behaviour and attitude didn't flag as they represented their families, our school and zone communities with courage and determination.Mr Parker's highlights (and there were many) - Observing the NCS team shake hands with their opponents and referees after the buzzer. Also, our captain, Matilda, leading the '3 cheers' at the end of each match. Finally, the sounds of barracking from the sides of the court, as parents and students from NCS cheered whenever we had the ball.
'I liked how we did subs a lot and that most of the time the other teams were nice to us (also Maccas at the end!)' Madi
'I enjoyed watching and cheering for my team and other teams. I also enjoyed playing and hanging out with my team.' Sienna
'At State Basketball I really enjoyed playing with my team mates and hanging out with them all day. I also loved getting Maccas, which Mr Parker bought!' Addi
'I liked basketball because it was fun, we played well and showed team work.' Beth
Thanks to an army of parent and family helpers on the day. They travelled great distances, enduring an early start and late finish and kept smiling throughout with tremendous grace.
You are all greatly appreciated!

In Terms 1 and 2 this year, a team of Secondary students competed in the NSW Junior Chess League 2025 Country Secondary Schools Chess Teams Competition. After a hard fought selection process, Jackson B, Jai D, Jorden W and Che S represented our school against St John the Evangelist Catholic High School. The boys all fought hard and Jai managed to win on his board, but this round saw us placed into the Second Place Competition.
When the next game day came around in Term 2, our entire team was absent! A quick scramble produced some strong up-and-coming players to represent NCS against Bomaderry High. Krishal T, Will A, Ashton J and Ashton G all played well, but despite some long, fiercely fought battles, this round saw us eliminated from the competition.
Well done to all our players!

A spirited team of 14 students proudly represented our school at the Shoalhaven Girls Blues Tag Gala Day. Despite facing some tough competition, the day was a huge success, focusing on teamwork, improvement, and fun!
Our girls showed true grit, playing four exciting games against formidable opponents from Bomaderry High, two Kiama High teams, and Nowra High. While they didn't manage to secure a win, the real victory was in their effort.
It was fantastic to see the students work together as a unified team, cheering each other on and supporting one another throughout every match. The team improved as the day progressed, showcasing developing skills and a deeper understanding of the game with every whistle blow.
The opportunity to play in a local gala day with many friends from other schools was especially appreciated, fostering great community spirit and sportsmanship.
