Lowri is helping some of our younger students to crochet squares to make a blanket for the silent auction.

After being tucked in for their big sleepover, it seems the teddies had quite the adventure once the lights went out. By morning, we discovered they’d been reading books, watching bluey, and even sneaking an ice cream from the canteen!
Foundation students were so excited to see photos of their bears’ cheeky adventures. Some of the bears even snuck into the principal's office!

Thanks very much again to everyone who played a part in today's event - to our fantastic hosts Balwyn North Primary, to the visiting school organisers, to the parents, and of course to all of the excellent young chess players who acquitted themselves so well today. It was as expected a high quality event, with some of Victoria's very best primary aged players taking part. It was hard work all day to get on a roll and accumulate points. All of the students are to be congratulated on their achievement in qualifying for today's semi-final stage. I hope that everyone feels that they have had a searching work-out today and have improved their chess game in the process.
I attach the results pdf, which gives the clearest view of all the results and the prize winners. We have also posted the results (minus the surnames) on our website at:

Big congratulations to the 31 leading individuals who scored 4.5 points and above and so have qualified individually to take part in our Primary Open Grand Final, to be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Deepdene on Mon 10 Nov. We hope that each of you will be enthused by that very challenging experience, and control the things that you are able to control by producing your own best chess!
Every tournament is of course both an individual event and a team competition. A massive congratulations to Carlton Gardens on finishing above the powerhouse chess schools Glen Waverley, Balwyn North and Glendal in a terrific tussle for the team trophy!! We shall be looking forward to seeing the leading schools in a tantalising battle in the Grand Final against the leading school teams from the other 3 semi-finals too. Really well done also to Aidan on finishing outright first in this fabulous field when only in Grade 2!
Please note also that all Prep to Y3 students in today's field are pre-qualified for our Junior Primary State event on Tues 25 Nov at Brandon Park Primary School in Wheelers Hill. We shall contact you about this in due course.
Thanks very much
