#1 - Brekkie Club Coordinator Needed For Next Year

Next year we are looking for a parent to take over the organisation of Breakfast Club.

We started Brekkie Club at Scoresby PS in 2020. It has been a very popular program and is one way that we keep our community connected. Before school is a busy time for teachers and admin staff. Daily preparation and organisation, phone calls, people needing assistance at the office, keep us all busy each and every morning. We are looking for someone, or a team of parents, to help us continue this program for next year.

A Brekkie Club Coordinator would be required to be at school on Wednesdays from 7.45-9.00am. The job would entail:

  • Leading the set-up for Breakfast Club. This involves setting out tables and chairs (usually with help from our students), getting out the supplies, and setting up the serving station.

  • Coordinating the pack-up / clean-up of the morning (finishing around 9.00am).

  • Coordinating rosters.

  • Notifying Tina in the office of any supplies that need replenishing.

If you are interested in discussing this opportunity to get involved in our school, please see Sue or Alison for any details. We would welcome any offer of help.

#2 - Join Our Publicity And Promotions Team

We warmly invite parents to join our staff-based team to promote our school in the community.

Moving into next year, we are looking to establish a new sub-committee of School Council – a Promotions and Publicity Team.  We would like to invite parents to join us. The work would involve assisting school-based staff to:

  • Plan a promotions timeline for 2026

  • Organise advertising - real estate boards, external advertising, flyers, brochures, etc.

  • Plan 'Open School' events

  • Connect with local community groups – kinders, childcare centres and aged-care facilities

If you are interested in helping, or want to get involved in promoting our wonderful school, please contact Sue Hartley – susan.hartley@education.vic.gov.au. We will be starting work in the final weeks of Term 4 this year, in readiness for Term 1 2026.

Work This Year

As we approach the conclusion of another year, it is timely to reflect on our achievements, the progress made towards our goals, and the opportunities that lie ahead in 2026.

The School Review, completed in mid-2025, affirmed many areas of strength within our school, including the high standard of teaching and learning practices evident across classrooms. The review also provided valuable insights that encouraged us to explore the new Department of Education English pedagogy, with a focus on enhancing Literacy teaching and learning.

Following the review, Nicole and Jordyn were selected to participate in a six-month Literacy Pedagogy Course through the Teaching Academy. Their participation in this program was instrumental in shaping our next phase of curriculum development. As they went through the course, they shared their knowledge and expertise with staff, initiating a comprehensive review of our Literacy approach and our Literacy resources.

At the beginning of this year, our Literacy program was structured in two main areas: Reading and Writing. Over the past five weeks, the teaching staff have collaboratively re-designed our English Curriculum to provide a more integrated and comprehensive framework that encompasses all elements of Literacy. This refined curriculum has been documented and is ready for implementation in classrooms from the beginning of 2026.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Nic and Jordyn for their commitment, leadership and innovation throughout this process. Their work, supported by the contributions of all SPS staff, has resulted in a high-quality curriculum document that has been recognised by peers and colleagues as excellent.

New School Vision

As part of the formal school review mid-year, schools are also required to conduct an appraisal of their school vision and values.

Our HEART values at Scoresby Primary School remain strong and well established within our community. All students can confidently articulate what each of the HEART values represents, and these values continue to underpin our school culture and guide our daily interactions. They are also used each week at assembly to acknowledge and celebrate student achievements that exemplify our shared values. We have reviewed their usage and fidelity and will be leaving them in place.

Our vision, on the other hand, was wordy and written back in 2019. The updated vision statement is succinct, future-focused, and reflective of our collective commitment to fostering excellence, engagement and wellbeing for all learners at Scoresby Primary School.

Old Vision

Scoresby Primary School provides an inclusive environment that empowers all students to become confident, successful and independent life-long learners. Our teachers put our students at the core of their teaching, working in collaboration to deliver engaging and innovative teaching programs. Scoresby Primary School fosters strong relationships between staff, students and the broader community guided by our HEART values.
