Year 3 Camp
Mel Pryce, Year 3 Teacher
Last Thursday, the Year 3 students headed off for their first ever overnight school camp! The buses were buzzing with excitement as the children looked over their activity and cabin groups. The sun was shining brightly as we pulled into Mill Valley Ranch, allowing us to spend our first day exploring the beautiful surroundings.
The students enjoyed horse riding, crate climbing, archery, scavenger hunts and team games all while making new friends and having a wonderful time. After dinner they watched a fun movie, then everyone headed to bed — and some even managed to get some sleep!
Friday morning brought more great weather and smiles as the campers continued to challenge themselves and support one another through the day’s activities. After a very enjoyable worship service featuring some golden oldies like Father Abraham, the bus ride home was much quieter, with plenty of well-deserved rest along the way.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our parent helpers for their amazing support. The Year 3 teachers are all very proud of how our students embraced the challenges of camp, showed grit and determination and strengthened their friendships.
Year 4: Melbourne Architecture Tour
Mariah Reed, Year 4 Team Leader
Last week, our Year 4 students braved the Melbourne rain for an excursion exploring sustainability in our city. With raincoats on and curiosity switched all the way up, students ventured into the heart of Melbourne to learn about how the city is working towards a greener future.
We discovered the role of sustainable Indigenous materials in modern architecture and how these connect to Country and culture. Students were fascinated by the ways Melbourne is creating more green spaces - not just for beauty, but to reduce heat, support biodiversity, and improve liveability. At Federation Square, they uncovered tiny fossils hidden in the stone pavers, a surprising link between science, history, and design.
We also learned about Melbourne’s ambitious goal of becoming a carbon neutral precinct by 2040, and what that means for our environment and our future.
Despite the wet weather, our students remained engaged, thoughtful, and inspired -returning to school with big ideas about engineering, sustainability, and what it means to be caretakers of God’s creation.
