BERRY STREET

EDUCATION MODEL

Introducing the Berry Street Education Model at Box Hill North Primary School

The Berry Street organisation is built on the belief that ‘children, young people and families should be safe, thriving and hopeful.’

The Berry Street Education Model (BSEM) is a teaching and learning approach designed to help teachers better connect with students, employing effective strategies to support every child's success. With a focus on nurturing children's growth and readiness to learn, BSEM emphasises five important areas: Body, Relationship, Stamina, Engagement, and Stamina.

These areas are like stepping stones in a child's development journey. At first, the model assists children in learning to manage their feelings and actions (self-regulation). Then, it helps them form strong bonds with others (relational capacity). Finally, it fosters children's excitement for learning and active involvement in class (willingness to engage and academic stamina). Through this approach, every child gains the essential skills to excel in school and beyond.

We are excited to be implementing the BSEM model across Box Hill North Primary School. Keep your eye on the newsletter to stay updated on our progress.
