PREP NEWS

Dear Parents,

Thank you for your unwavering support this term as we witness the daily growth of our students. It's hard to believe we're already halfway through the term and swiftly approaching the midpoint of the year!

Exploring the Magic of Literacy:

We're nearing the conclusion of our Little Learners Love Literacy program. This week, we introduced Kylie the Koala, guiding us through the /k/ sound, and Max the Fox, aiding us with the /x/ sound. We also delved into spelling intricacies, distinguishing when to use 'c' and 'k' for the /c/k/ sound. As we expand our phonetic repertoire, we're delving into various spelling patterns and soon will explore long and short vowel sounds. Witnessing students seamlessly apply their newfound knowledge in both writing and reading has been truly remarkable. We extend our gratitude for your ongoing support at home, particularly with nightly reading and homework practice.

Embarking on Mathematical Journeys:

This week, we ventured into the realm of shapes in our Math lessons. It's been a delight to witness students engaging in collaborative activities, sorting shapes, and engaging in lively discussions about their discoveries. The conversations have sparked curiosity and inspiration, fostering a wonderful atmosphere of collaborative learning. We're eager to see what shapes students will discover and notice in their surroundings!

Fine Motor Rotations

This week our preps fine motor skills were on full display! They used tongs to transfer coloured pom-poms onto a rainbow, did rainbow writing of letters we have previously learnt, coloured in pictures of koalas with the focus being to stay in the lines and use a lot of colour, and they matched lower and upper case letters with stickers. It has been pleasing to see the students understand how to quickly pack up so they can move on to their next rotation.

Homework:

We hope your child is relishing our homework activities and immersing themselves in the decodable books with zest. Should you have any queries, please don't hesitate to reach out. A gentle reminder: decodable book exchanges occur on Mondays and Thursdays, encouraging our little ones to establish a consistent routine, nurturing independence and responsibility.

Administrative Reminders:

A friendly reminder that attendance rolls are marked promptly at 9 am. If your child arrives after this time, kindly sign them in at the office. Should your child have appointments or be feeling unwell, please notify us via Compass. Your cooperation in ensuring regular attendance is deeply appreciated.

On Friday, Prep and Year 1/2 students have prepared a special song to express gratitude to all our Education Support Staff. You're warmly invited to join us for the performance assembly, commencing at 3 pm. If you’re child is wanting to practice the song at home the song is: A you’re Adorable - it can be found on YouTube easily (the one with lyrics).

We eagerly anticipate another week brimming with laughter, learning, and boundless possibilities!
