Principal Message

Dear Parents and Guardians
A very important reminder that next Friday 31st of May is a school closure day as staff are engaged in preparation for our School Review. Unfortunately due to not enough interest, Camp Australia will not be open on this day.
It has been wonderful to see our students shine at our assemblies this term. Over the past few weeks our Foundation/Preps have sung and danced as they learned all about the 1950's and our Year 2 students narrated and acted out the story of Wombat Stew. Our next assembly in on Monday 3 June and our Year 1 students will be presenting.
Parent Feedback Sessions
Over the past few weeks I have hosting Parent Feedback session with our Acting Deputy Principal Ferial Davis. We had over 25 parents attend over the 3 sessions and really appreciated their open and honest feedback. Many areas were discussed and the main things included:
- The importance of effective communication structures.
- Opportunities for community events and parent engagement.
- A greater understanding of our Behaviour Management processes especially related to playground spaces and how we deal with Bullying.
- Strengthening the partnership between Secondary schools to support the transition process for our Year 6 students.
Please know as a leadership team we take on this feedback and will ensure it is included in our new School Improvement Plan.
Staff news
We congratulate Nilani Fernando (LSO) on her recent engagement to Gavindu. May they find much joy in planning for their future life together.
School Review
We are ensuring that we have all the documentation needed for the compliance component on our School Review. There are a number of documents that will come home this term for parents to complete and I appreciate your support in this space.
Information about the Parent Code of Conduct is included in today's newsletter.
Please keep an eye out on further communication related to this.
Communication Technology
Over a number of years Good Shepherd School has been operating with two different Domain names. We will be removing the "@goodshep" domain and only operating with the "@gswheelershill" domain to support more effective communication.
When emailing staff could you please use the following address:
.........@gswheelershill.catholic.edu.au rather than ........@goodshep.vic.edu.au
We have set up the system so that both emails will work and be delivered however all communication with now come from the "gswheelershill" domain.
As you can understand this has been an important and big project to improve effective communication.
We have also noted recently that some Audiri alerts are not coming through so are working to rectify this problem. In the meantime to record absences please email the office - gsofffice@gswheelershill.catholic.edu.au.
Very soon there will be a new platform for parents to record student absences.
Parents and Friends
A big thank you to our Parents and Friends and all the parent volunteers for a wonderful Mothers Day stall a few weeks ago. It is always such a special day. Today we all had a splash of pink with important funds going towards Breast Cancer awareness. The next major event is our Trivia night on Friday 21 June which will be so much fun.
Have a great weekend!
