Year 11 & 12
As semester two draws to a close, our senior students are gearing up for end of semester exams and a number of Common Assessment tasks to finish the required course work from units one and three. The year 11 students will start their exams on Friday the 11th of June. These exams test the knowledge and skills required in each semester of course work and provide essential exam practice for year 12. Students are provided with the opportunity to refine the skills of working to exam conditions as well as developing thorough personal insights in exam preparation, revision and time management all necessary for a strong VCE result in year 12. We wish all of our students the best of luck for their exams and end of semester tasks.
During the year 12 assembly held last Thursday, Ms. Carmody provided a thorough guide to the approaching GAT (General Achievement Test) for year 12 students, with details of the scheduling and plan for the day. Students were provided with tips for successful responses and completed a brief practice task. Details have been posted on compass. A reminder that the GAT will take place on June 18th. All students in year 12 will be required to sit the GAT. This year all students including those in VCE /VM are required to sit section A (Reading and Writing) and Numeracy from 9.15 to 11.45, then all VCE students (not VM) will complete section B – General Knowledge and Skills from 1.15 to 3 pm. The college will provide lunch for students in the break in between.
Thank you to parents and caregivers for your continued support in ensuring that our senior students attend school in their full winter uniform and arrive to the college on time. Please remind your teenagers that mobile phones and smart watches are not permitted at school, and need to be kept in student lockers for the day. We have seen some issues arise when students break these rules, and then have to have their devises confiscated for the day. Mobile phones disrupt learning and open up the flood gates for possible breach of rules in classroom assessments including CATs. Under no circumstances are mobile phones permitted in classrooms and during Exams including the GAT. Strict VCAA penalties can result to assessment scores if students are in possession of these mobile devises.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact me or the members of the senior school, should you have any concerns or questions about your child.
Wishing you and your families the best of health,
Laura Forster.
